The man who's name is synonymous with excellence in all areas of Sports Broadcasting. Tim is renowned for his accuracy, intelligent commentary and unswerving passion for sport. For more than thirty years, Tim has delivered his passion for sport with dignity, integrity and clarity. Testament to all of this is the esteem to which his peers hold him. Tim's sporting credentials include his decades of VFL/AFL covering including 22 Grand Finals (let's hope he gets to call his beloved Blues winning more premierships before he rests his voice!). He has called international cricket in Australia , England , India , Pakistan , and South Africa as well as five Olympic and six Commonwealth Games. Tim gained great respect from ethical and thinking people with his principled stand in regard to broadcasting football with co-commentator Eddie McGuire. It was Tim's belief that for the President of a football club to ‘call' his own club was a conflict. Although his stand would cost him in a financial sense, Tim stuck true to his principles and did not commentate with Eddie McGuire. Tim ‘stuck his neck out!' In 2003 he resigned from the full time staff of the ABC to work freelance, and currently calls football for Network Ten and ABC Radio, as well as writing for The Age |
