At age 24, Greg Wilson was involved in a near-fatal motorcycle accident in Paddington, severing the main artery in his neck, and being pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene before they were able to bring him back to life. The accident sent him into a downward spiral. During a traumatic four-year recovery period, plagued by pain, confusion, and clinical depression, Greg eventually turned to art and his partner Josie to help him deal with the traumatic turn that his life had taken. Greg remembers saying to himself that if he ever got over his depression he wouldn’t want to talk about it, want hear about it, or even think about it ever again. However, after having learnt to cope with the illness that almost killed him his feelings gradually began to change. He didn’t want others to suffer the way he did and decided he would like to help. He started giving motivational talks, hoping that his learning would assist other who were currently in the midst of serious depression. Today, he acts as a friend to many who have mental health issues. He has slowly conscripted a willing army of helping to achieve his goal of bringing hope and light to the thousands of victims of depression. He regularly donates paintings to charity and has helped to raise tens of thousands of dollars for these worthwhile causes. |
